New World Records (New York, U.S.A.)

The Recorded Anthology of American Music, Inc., which records under the imprint New World Records, was founded in 1975. Its original brief was to produce a 100-disc anthology of American music to cover the broadest possible spectrum of musical genres. In 1978 the anthology was completed and distributed free of charge to almost 7,000 educational and cultural associations around the world.

Since completion of the original set, New World Records has produced over 150 additional titles including a fist full of now-classic jazz and improvisation CDs: Roy Eldridge's The Nifty Cat; Earl Hines Plays Duke Ellington Vols. 1 & 2; The Cecil Taylor Unit 3 Phasis; Muhal Richard Abrams One Line Two Views to name a few, and continues to support the finest emerging players.

New World Records meets about two-thirds of its expenses through record sales. The balance is made up from grants and other voluntary funding.
